Another ornament done

Just a quick drive by post to share an ornament I finished on Monday before I headed off to a stitching retreat until today.

Very enjoyable and quick make and I hope I'll be able to fit a few more in

Beading weekend part 1

This is what I was greeted with yesterday morning when I arrived for class.
The tea cup is a pin cushion made by the tutor Lorraine, every year on the beading weekend we get a gift that's related to the project which is a lovely touch.
We also have a wooden box but you know what they look like so I left it off the pic

We spent yesterday on the tea cup and here's how far I got with mine.

Last night in the B&B I finished it off and did a couple of other little bits.
Today we started on the cake but no pic as yet.

First Christmas ornament of the year

I bought the for Sparkle Little Lights kit last year at a bead fair from Oak Tree Crafts and got round to making them at last.

I had great fun making this up although the string for the lights was getting to be rather heavy by the end of it!

One of the bulbs so you can see how lovely they are

I'm off on the annual beading weekend class in a little over 8 hours from writing this :)  really looking forward it so check back on Sunday evening when I will hopefully have remembered to take some pics for you

Updates

First up is my Daffs and it's long over due :(  I never got round to posting my progress from a couple of weekends ago so here it is now

Sunday night it looked like this, it's not easy to see but I filled in a lot the gaps around the centre and did the back stitch as well

There will be very little progress (if any) this weekend as I'm away on a beading class both days but I will have beading to share

And bringing up the rear is last week progress on Croakworth not much but it all counts

September Gifted Gorgeousness

Gifted Gorgeousness is hosted by the lovely Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching and the idea is to use all those charts/ kits/ threads/ etc that have been gifted to us over the years instead of leaving them sitting in our stash feeling unloved, shoehorning is also permitted :)

It's a small GG report for me this month :(  I have had a finish that is a GG project but it's for my Mum for Christmas and she reads my blog so I can't share it yet.

First is My Ark birth sampler, I'm stitching this for fella's first grandchild due around Christmas

And the completed wedding gift for fella's son

I did say it was a short one this month :)

This weeks stitching

Monday saw me having a new start :)
This is My Ark from Bothy Threads, it's the birth sampler fella chose for his first grandchild due around Christmas

Friday's SAL progress, please excuse the bump I had to unroll it all of the scroll frame to get the pic.
I stitched the left hand motif on the bottom, the 2 flowers and the outer border this week.

And absolutely nothing to do with stitching but I was very excitied on Wednesday morning to see my toms have started turning red at last :)
Fella and I had a couple on sausage pitta's this morning and they were very tasty

Wedding gift finish

Fella's son is getting married next month and he asked me to stitch a wedding sampler for him.
After much searching around he finally settled on this one, Just Married Snippet from Lizzie Kate.

I didn't have any of the called for colours apart from one so we spend a couple of hours one afternoon playing about with what I did have and various possible fabrics until this combo was settled upon, I think it turned out rather well :)

It's very odd for me to be organized so far in advance! normally I'd be finishing it a day or so before it's needed and putting it in a ready made frame on the morning.

TUSAL time once more

By now you should all know about the totally useless stitch a long  hosted by Daffycat  and if you don't click on the link to find out more about it.

Is it just me or does the time to post piccies of our stitching rubbish come round quicker every time?

Since last month I've added orts from Funky Street, Croakworth, Daffodils, Alchemical Romance, Just Married and normal sewing thread from hexies

And my beading orts, lots of grey this time from a Russian Spiral necklace which I have yet to get a decent pic of and some phone charms I'm doing as gifts for the Ladies bowls team.

August progress and September Goals

For August I said
Pick a new weekend project   Done I went with the Daffodils
Start a wedding sampler/gift  Done and almost finished it in the August as well but not quite
Get the next RR done and posted on time   I did the stitching in plenty of time, posting day was today and it's going out tomorrow or Saturday
A finish would be nice   Other then the RR I didn't have one
Sell some stash   A couple of things found new homes

For September I'd like to
Start a birth sampler for fella's grandson to be
Get the next RR stitched in plenty of time
A finish would be nice
Make good progress on Croakworth
Get a few symbols done on Alchemical
Get caught up on hexie flowers
Make a start on the Sunflower hexie swap
Sell some stash

In August I stitched for 59 hours 14 minutes which I'm happy with given that I was away for a few days and had family visiting for a week as well during the month.  I had 2 starts and 1 finish and I stitched every day.    Bowling season is winding down now and by the end of the month will be over :( but I'll have more stitching time which is handy given the plans I have for Christmas gifts and a new hexie swap to do.

PHD total = 28!  it's going up not down :(
